Wendy Alek - NGA Pro Bodybuilder

NM - Hi Wendy and thanks for being a part of Natural Muscle. Let's start with a brief description of yourself:

Wendy - Hi Jerry, thank you for taking the time to interview me. I work as a RDSC_0947egistered Nurse in my home town and recently obtained my personal training certificate. I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Chris for l0 years.

NM - How long have you been involved with Bodybuilding?

Wendy - Originally, in 2003, I
began training as a way to lose weight - I weighed almost 160lbs. My trainer, Rick Ujfalussy, encouraged me to compete as a personal goal. What I didn't know at the time was when I stepped onto the stage for the first time I would fall in love with the sport! I have never looked back!

NM - What was your first contest and hoDSC_5048w did you do?

Wendy - I competed in the 2005 Olympus in the novice division and took first place and Best Poser for my routine.

NM - What brought you to the NGA and Natural Muscle? My trainer has always had a great respect for Jerry Marsala and his organization and encouraged me to compete with the NGA and Natural Muscle.

NM - How do you stay motivated?

Wendy - I continually set goals for myself on and off season to keep myself focused. My husband helps to keep me motivated and focused! He is my greatest source of support!

NM - How did it feel winning the NGA Pro Card?

Wendy - I still cannot believe I did it! It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life! It reinforces in my mind that drive and determination do pay off!

NM - Are you ever prompted by other to use steroids?

DSC_0898Wendy - I am fortunate that I have never been approached by anyone encouraging steroid use. I have only experienced positive feedback and support in this sport.

NM - Who trains with you in preparation for the NGA/Natural Muscle OLYMPUS Women's Pro in October?

Wendy - My trainer had the opportunity to move to New Zealand with his family so I am training on my own for my first Pro show. My husband is a great support in my preparation for the competition and we are lucky enough to have a full gym at home so I never miss a workout!

NM - What is your diet like for contest prep? DSC_0897

Wendy - I utilize carb cycling when preparing for a competition. Staples include: chicken, fish, oatmeal, brown rice and tons of vegetables.

NM - Do you use any supplements?

Wendy - Whey protein, multivitamins, EFA's

NM - Last question, how is it that you keep winning best poser?

Wendy - Ha! I love the routine component of the competition. It gives you a chance to express your individual personality to the judges and audience. I just try to bring a routine that is fun and entertaining and I have been lucky enough to have won it 3 years in a row! I am working hard on a new routine for October! I hope you like it!

Thank you for taking the time to interview me Jerry!
