After playing 2 years of football for Grover Cleveland High School, Steve started weight lifting in 1954. He was 18 years old and worked out at the downtown YMCA in Buffalo NY. He was married to his wife rita for over 30 years till she sadly passed away. Steve is the proud father of daughter Lisa and son in law Chris and grandfather to Christopher and Danielle. This retired deputy sheriff of 31 years entered his 1st contest in April of 1956. From that point Steves career started and contiues today.
